This afternoon I landed in Praia and after a taxi ride to my holiday QTH, I can now say that D44EC is on the air. The first antenna I set up was the BigSignal Deltaflex. I made a few contacts on 15 CW, with good signals in Spain and the EU.

After a planned break to buy supplies, I resumed transmissions on 15 FT8. The other antenna and equipment won’t be operational until tomorrow. I’m currently transmitting with an IC-705 with 10W and the Deltaflex.

Right now, it’s pitch black in Praia, and I’m working 40m FT8, contacting stations in the EU and USA with good signals.

D44EC will be on the air soon. I’m writing this post from my hotel room near Porto airport, ready to take off tomorrow at 11:00 UTC.
Everything is packed, all equipment, antennas, and software tested, so all that’s left is to enjoy the experience from another DXCC entity.
I hope for good conditions and that we can hear each other on the bands. Until tomorrow from Cape Verde.

After completing the paperwork with ARME for the license application, I finally received my callsign today. D44EC will be my callsign to use from June 17th to 24th, 2026.
